Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Tint

The theme this week at the Trendy Treehouse is: Tint. This is my entry:

I went through my archives this morning and attempted to tint some pictures during naptime that I haven't shared here before. I really wasn't happy with any of the results. I dunno... they just weren't making my skirt fly up, you know? And then I remembered that I had this lovely picture, taken just last week. I featured it on the very first official Seen & Heard Saturday... but then I didn't change the posting time/info so S&H Saturday posted on the day I began drafting, and not on the Saturday on which it should have. *sigh*. These things happen. No biggie!

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ A Story in Pictures

My beloved Papa died of cancer in January of 2008. These pictures were taken the night before he died. We went to visit with him at the nursing home. He was having a moment with my daughter, J, and I snapped away. I don't know that there is much more of a story to it than a great-grandfather whispering sweet nothings to his tiny little great-granddaughter... wishes for all the happiness in the world & a long and successful life.

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Babies

This week's theme over at the Trendy Treehouse is Babies. I don't know where I'll find a picture of a baby. I don't think I have any of those. Har. Har. Har. It took me FOREVER to pick a photo. We have thousands upon thousands of pictures of our kids (as I'm sure all the rest of you do, too). And of ALL the pictures I could choose from, I kept going back in my head to one in particular. I couldn't get it out of my mind. When we found out (at the 17 week ultrasound) that we were having twins, the thing we kept saying to each other was "Babies."
So here's my entry this week.... "Babies." I had to take a picture of this picture because (obviously) I did not snap a picture of my womb. I did do a little cropping and editing though and that is noted in my watermark. Babies. Life is such an miracle. The creation of human life, of a baby, is such a miracle. Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Pumpkin

Awesome new buttons from the Trendy Treehouse ~ I love the motion! :) Anyways, it's Shutter Love Tuesday over there and the theme this week is Pumpkins. Here is my shot!

Not only do I love the goofy smiles on my little pumpkinheads' faces but our cat is giving her best "spooky cat" imitation behind them!

Blue is the theme this week at the Trendy Treehouse! :) I immediately thought of this picture. It IS from my archives (the girls' 2nd birthday, so September 13, 2009) but it totally fits the bill! Blue shirt, blue wall, blue expression. Who knew turning two years old was so upsetting!

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Cake

This week's theme is Cakes. After ALL the birthdays this month (so far!), I definitely have some choices for a picture to enter! I really like the way the girls' cake turned out this year. I had Whole Foods bake it and then I decorated it, which saved me so much time! And way less mess!! I made the submarine and all the sea animals out of colored chocolates (melted, then used parchment bags to freehand the designs). I used the invitations (thank you Target!) as inspiration for the deco. I used to work at a bakery so I really like doing this sort of thing... but I have no time to really do it as anything more than a hobby. So I really only do it in September. :) And I guess I'll be doing in Decembers too, since our baby has her birthday in December. Anyways...

Oh, and the cupcakes! Those were cute, too. I made those. And my friend, Lo, came & helped with some of it... and also kept me sane because I was doing all of this while my husband was at a golf tournament (with her husband).

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Bloopers & Outtakes!

The theme this week over at the Trendy Treehouse is Bloopers & Outtakes. I definitely have more than a few of those. But I ended up picking this one because it really was a blooper. And it actually wasn't the only one that night ~ ALL of my pictures from my daughters' first real Halloween (they were only a month old the first time they had one) turned out blurred/out of focus/no light.

I was pretty disappointed not to have any great pictures from their first Halloween.

Until a few months ago, someone tagged me in a picture on Face.book and it turned out to be one from that night. Of both girls. In their costumes. Looking at the camera!

Saved my photobooks & memory boxes for the girls, it did!! Gotta love the FB. Sometimes.

The theme this week at Trendy Treehouse is Laughter! It should seem like an easy theme but, holy cow do I have a lot of cute laughter pictures!! I'm sure it was hard for everyone to pick just one. :)

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ My Favorite Things!

It's Tuesday over at the Trendy Treehouse... and that means it is Shutter Love Tuesday. This week's theme is: My Favorite Things.

Entrants can make collages of lots of their favorite things but I'm choosing to keep it simple (for my own sanity!) and enter one of my top three favorite pictures of my girls. We had just brought the baby home from the hospital and the girls were finally all together, the three sisters. They could not have been happier to be Big Sisters!!!

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Vacation!

This week's theme over at the Trendy Treehouse is Vacations!
My husband & I went to Mexico with his parents. We spent a day of our trip at Chitzen Itza, the famous Mayan pyramids. Part of the "tour" took us to a very small village where there is a beautiful cave. After we had seen the cave, we were piling into our tour van when the driver started to collect the money everyone owed him. Some of the village children had come up to the van... we had given them Swedish Fish and other goodies but what is so striking about this picture is the look on the little girl's face as she watches, what to her, is an enormous amount of money being passed over her head. I can only imagine the better good it would have done her & her family than it did for us and our "fabulous vacation".

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Weddings!

This week's theme over at Trendy Treehouse's Shutter Love Tuesdays is: Weddings!
I've been married for just over three kids now. Haha. I meant to write "just over three years now"... I can't imagine what might have caused me to write "just over three kids now" instead! I would normally have erased such a typo but this was too funny. I had to leave it in! Anyways... So Hubby & I have been married for just over three years now. We have three children, ages almost 3, almost 3, and 7 months. I may or may not have been a (doubly) pregnant bride. You do the math. :)
...ANYWAYS...
Weddings are so fun! We were second of all my friends and in the middle of all Hubby's friends to get married. We were the first to have kids. Out of every one of our friends. And we had two at once! So when our friends get married we tend to bring the kids along for the ceremony (an all-day babysitter would break the bank!). It's fun to dress them up and they almost never take away from the bride.
My entry for this week's Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday is of my second oldest daughter (by two whole minutes!) at the wedding of her 'older' sister's godfather. The old church had floor vents that were blowing air straight up. When the girls would walk over the vents, their little dresses (vintage from my own toddlerhood) would bloom up like little bells. I love remembering how they used to toddle back then and with their dresses filled with air, they're even cuter than usual.

The Trendy Treehouse, another photoblog that I frequent, has a weekly thing called "Shutter Love Tuesdays". I'm going to try and participate in that this week, too. The linky is open for 48 hours so even though it's not Tuesday anymore I can still add a picture! :)

My entry is:

We had planned to let the girls "Run the Bases" after the baseball game... we had NO IDEA it would be so crowded. With their baby sister in a sling on my shoulders & the heat rising, there was no way we could wait out the line. So... we took them to "Run the Bases" at a dilapidated baseball field near our house. The girls had virtually no idea that they weren't really running the bases. They had a blast!! Children have such an enthusiasm for life ~ the smallest activity can mean so much to them. I love to watch my kids having fun! :)
