Seen & Heard Saturday ~ February 5, 2011

Welcome to Seen & Heard Saturday, the place where we (I?) share funny, cute, or even strange things that have happened this week! Sort of like a quote book! It's mainly just another way to remind and inspire us to write down all those funny {or cute, or thoughtful, etc} things that our kids say and do. Pictures are welcome but not obligatory! Please grab my button for your post and link up!

Seen & Heard Saturday ~ February 5, 2011

Let's just say that the Purple Bug has bit. And it has bit HARD. Purple shirt, purple pants, purple shoes, purple socks, purple crayon, purple toothbrush, purple blanket, purple sticker, purple EVERYTHING! PURPLE!!!! Magnolia wore the purple outfit in the picture below for
THREE DAYS. I don't know what caused this obsession. I guess just being a girl? :)
~
~
Junie has been dancing and singing all over the place. She makes up these little songs and ditties. It's so sweet and her voice is so soft.
~
~
Both girls are itching to go ice skating. Favorite pretend games as of late include putting wipes on the bottom of their feet and going "Ite Kating".
~

~
"Oh, Phooey!" ~ Magnolia's newest form of expressing her dislike for something. Sometimes she says "Oh Nuts!" but we're trying to break her of that habit.
~
~
"...Jesus, God, and the Hole." ~ Junie
"The Hole? Like the Holy Spirit?" ~ Hubby
"Yeah." ~ Junie
{I guess they must be on some sort of nickname agreement?}
~
~
"Mommy? You put on bah-yay moo-sic (ballet music) now please? I need to have my singing lesson." ~ Junie

I don't have any pictures to share this week! :( thankyouverymuchbrokencamera.

Juniper has become obsessed with Ballet. Everything Ballet. She always wants me to put on "Bah-yay Moou-sik" and she does like... what can only be described as Totally Interpretive Dance. Like, really interpretive. And actually, I think it's amazing. This girl has a talent and I can tell she feels it. She also keeps saying that she wants to have a "Bih-g Tsow" (Big Show). And on Tuesday, she insisted on wearing a tutu over her clothes because she had "to do a big show for everyone in two minutes". This is what she's telling me as I'm getting her out of the car and the tutu off so we can go inside to school. I was surprised that I made her take it off, I really wanted to be that Mom who let her daughter wear the ridiculous tutu to school ~ but I didn't want her to get in trouble. Or for the teachers to hate me because everyone wanted to wear a tutu when they saw her the tutu. So no tutu's allowed at school. {I so disappoint myself with this story.}

~

{in the car on the way to school}
"Mommy, are you my mommy?" ~ Juniper
"Of course I'm your mommy! I'm all of your mommy!" ~ Me
"Well then put on Led Zeppin!" ~ Juniper
{seriously made me laugh out loud!}

~

Junie walked out of school today without shoes on. None of us noticed until she said that her feet were freezing! Poor thing! It is sorta funny though! :)

~

Magnolia tried to throw a block over Gigi's head this Wednesday. Of course, my daughter's aim was off and the block went straight into Gigi's eye. Four hours of a black spot, followed by nearly a day of blurred vision and Gigi can see fine again. I felt SO bad but not nearly as bad as Mags. I could really see it on her face when I inquired about what happened. Gigi told me that Mags rushed to the ice-maker the moment she realized Gigi's eye got hurt. So sweet!

~

"You're my bets." -Mags to me, as she snuggled me closer for a bedtime cuddle. {Bets is their word for "Best Friend Ever"... ah, my heart just melts every time!}

~

Junie is wearing Pull-Ups pretty much any time but naptime and nighttime. Pretty awesome! She's been about 65/35 on making it to the potty. And I'm okay with that. We've taken a very laid-back, it's available but do it when you're ready sort of approach to potty training. I think it's working out. Mags prefers to wear a diaper, in fact she'll tell you she wants to wear a "Baby Diaper". Sometimes when Snowdrop takes a morning nap I try to have Mags wear a Pull-Up or Big Girl Und.ies. Usually she complies and like 90% of the time makes it okay until after the baby wakes up. She'll get there. I'm not pushing it.

~

The girls each wanted a "coin". So I gave each of them a quarter. Mainly just to buy myself some time so they could walk upstairs and put it in their piggy banks.
"Here is a quarter!" ~ Me
"Oooooooooooh nooooooo! But I wanted a COIN!!!" ~ Mags, in the whineest crying voice ever!
I think they understood when I explained that a quarter is a type of coin. I said that there are different types of coins. Just like there are different types of hair: red, black, blonde, brown ~ those are all hairs but they are different types of hair. A quarter is just a different type of coin. They seemed satisfied with that answer.

Seen & Heard Saturday ~ January 15, 2011

**Edited to say that I am SO SORRY this got screwed up! I started this post on January 11th, and just realized (now, 7:45pm Saturday) that when I published it last night (at 2am....), it posted in between posts that went up around the 11th and not on today. So anyways, link up! :) Geez, hopefully next week I'll have the hang of this blogging-thing. LOL. ;)

Welcome to the very first official Seen & Heard Saturday here at my blog! It's the sort of post where we can share pictures, quotes, short stories of cute or funny or strange things that have happened with our kids (or whoever, whatever) this week! I don't want to limit this to only people who have kids, so if you have something you've Seen & Heard this week and want to share ~ well please do share it! :)
Grab my button for your post and link up so we can check out what's been Seen & Heard at your place! Now let's get started!

"You my bits fren ever." ~ Junie {best friend ever}

"Mommy's my bits." ~ Mags

"But I don't want Him to be hurting." ~ Junie, regarding Jesus on the cruicifix in the hallway at school. I had to explain to her why Jesus had blood on his hands and feet. She has such a great (meaning big) interest in God and Jesus and Mary, and an obvious love for them; she's talked so much recently about them.

~~~~
"I want to be a big girl so I can drink DaddyBeer." ~ Junie. DaddyBeer is actually CocaCola.
~~~~
{seen:} ~~~~

"But Mommy, I don' wandt you to go. I lah-v you. I wandt you to tsay right here wit me." ~my Magnolia girl, nearly every time I've left the house on errands and left her home.

Announcing a Weekly Fun Thing!! Link up!! Play Along!!

{so I like this button a lot, but I want it to say something like "Seen & Heard Saturday with..." but I can't think of a name. theUnexpectedWorldofMommyhood is just so. freaking. long. And I'm so tired of writing it out every time I need to! It still applies to my life but it really is just long. I'm currently brainstorming for a new, and shorter, blogname.}

Wow, a Weekly Fun Thing? Really? Is that the best I could come up with?? Laughable!! Anyways... when I was keeping my old blog over at Wordpress, I did a Saturday feature called Seen & Heard Saturdays! It's a great way to write down those funny, cute, or weird things our kids say and do (or even things you've may have seen or heard out and about) and I intend on doing it every week this year! (Well, from now on, haha!) I'll include a linky each week so you can link up with your own Seen & Heard Saturday post! Please include my button in your post so others can link up and play along, too!

The first Seen & Heard Saturday starts this Saturday, January 15th, so be sure to write stuff down & take pictures this week so you can link up!

I'm going to post my Seen & Heard Saturday for this past week today (yes, I know it's Sunday!) so you can kind of see what I mean. It doesn't have to be lengthy, there is no requirement for number of pictures, quotes, etc ~ this is for fun and is sort of like a quote-book project. Actually, I used to keep a quote-book in college, and let me tell you it STILL makes my belly ache from laughing when I read it. I hope for many of us, this will be an easy way to keep track of those words we want to remember and the little moments in our childrens' lives that should be noted ~ you know, eating boogers one million times a day and snuggles between sisters and lovies getting to play with toys too.

Without further ado, here is my example of what I'll be posting on Seen & Heard Saturdays!

~
Seen & Heard Saturday

{seen: a tiger reading a book}

{seen: one 3 year old wearing big girl u.nd.er.we.ar. over her diaper. i believe we're just about ready to officially be potty trained!} (Note: you don't NEEd to include a picture with your 'seen' moment!!)

Current "When They Grow Up" Occupations, per Junie & Mags:
Junie will be a Doctor. Mags is going to be Candymaker. Snowdrop is going to be Santa Claus. And Daddy is going to be a Reindeer when he grows up.
Mommy just gets to be Mommy forever.

"How come Mickey Mouse in't in dis?"~ Mags about why Mickey Mouse isn't in Toy Story, even though it's a Disney movie (she recognized the castle in the beginning...) Very good observation, Miss Magnolia! :) I also don't know why! :)

"It working! It working!!" ~ Junie singing from the bathroom. Mags is on the pot. And I'm shouting "One person in the bathroom at a time!! One person ONLY!!!" But there they are, the two of them cheering each other on. LOL. :)

"What is this book about?" ~ Junie
"It's a Little Book about God." ~ Me
"Oh, like Mary & Joseph & God!" ~ Junie
I really love those little connections she makes between all the different things we teach her about our religion! Another God quote coming up...

"Are you going to get married and make me a grandpa some day?" ~ Hubby
"No." ~ Magnolia
"I'm gonna get married." ~ Juniper
"Oh, who are you going to marry?" ~ Hubby
"God." says Junie. "I want to be Juniper God." (instead of Juniper Lastname)

{While talking about letters}
"And what is the Letter M for?"~ Me
"Mommy.... and Monkeys!!!" ~ Magnolia
"Moon!!" ~ Juniper
"Great job girls! Anything else for the letter M?" ~ Me
"Mutton!" ~ Juniper
{And I'll note it was indeed Mutton, not Mitten or Mountain, as she corrected me when I tried correcting her! Where did she pick up the word "Mutton"? LOL!}

~

Hopefully I'll have a little more stuff to share with you next week! AND hopefully you'll have some good stuff to share with me next week! See you next Saturday for Seen & Heard Saturday!

{well, I'll be around before then but you know what I mean...}

EDITED: I edited this post to add the Linky (which was WAY easier than I expected it to be, ThankyouverymuchBrentRiggs!) Feel free to add your post this week, if you want! Even though it's Sunday! :) I'll link up again on Saturday for a new Seen & Heard Saturday!
