Shoot~N~Tell Thursday - Circular

Shoot:
Tell:
If you look closely, you'll note the very thin vine attached to the very thick pumpkin stump.
During my pregnancy with the girls, we planted pumpkin seeds.
The pumpkins never grew. My husband knew I'd be disappointed.
But alas.
My father-in-law had a brilliant idea!
Starting with a tiny pumpkin, he brought a bigger & bigger pumpkin every few weeks.
Attached the vine to the stump so it appeared to be growing.
See, it was HOT. HOT. HOT. that summer.
And I was very very very pregnant with twins. I never really went outside.
Except for every few weeks, to check on our one growing pumpkin.
This continued on until a month after the girls were born when my friends came to visit.
They noticed right away that the pumpkin hadn't grown in our backyard.
Hi. My name is Meg. I'm a city child. My husband will never let me live this down.

Shoot N Tell Thursdays ~ Looking Up

This week the theme for Shoot~N~Tell Thursdays is Looking Up! I've got plenty of pictures of the kids looking up but... I wanted to branch out a bit and post a picture of something other than my kids. A little variety is the spice of life, right?
My entry this week is a picture of Uncle Dan. He's one of my husband's best friends, he is godfather to our firstborn, he introduced me & Hubby, he was one of our groomsmen, and his firstborn was born two days after our thirdborn... and until he had a child of his own, he'd tag along with us and carry our diaper bag, push our stroller, and more or less be our "manny". He is a great friend and truly like a brother to us (and especially Hubby who is an only child). I took this picture during July Fourth celebrations at Hubby's parents' lakehouse. It was just the three of us (me, Dan, and Hubby) out for a cruise around the lake.
I love this picture for a million reasons but mainly because it exudes Dan's love for life, pride of being American, and his generally awesome attitude!

PS. My editing included: the watermark, sharpening/reducing noise and cropping. It's an almost SOOC shot! :)

Shoot~N~Tell Photo Challenge!! Free Week!!!

I started reading this blog only a few days ago, I'll admit! But I really enjoy it! AND the author, Natalie, has started doing photo challenges! I'm super excited!! The name of the challenge is "Shoot~N~Tell", so sort of like the old "Show and Tell" when we were kids.

I'm excited for two reasons: I love a good photo challenge AND this is the perfect opportunity to post a picture of my baby. She was born December 30, 2009 so she is eight months old now. I have only entered pictures of our twins so far in the other photo challenges I've entered. It only seemed fair (and appropriate for Shoot~N~Tell) to share pictures of my youngest. I was so excited I actually jumped out of my seat, grabbed my camera and took some pictures of her! Her big sisters are at school so we have free time to do these sort of things together. To be impulsive.
Then when I went to upload them, I found some super cute shots of her from Tuesday. It was her big sisters' first day at school so we had taken "sister pictures" on our doorstep. I even snapped a few of my little ham all by herself. These are cuter than the ones I got just now anyways, so I decided to post the pics from Tuesday instead!
Without further ado... my Shoot~N~Tell is My Baby.

I told you she was a ham.
