The Paper Heart Camera Show and Tell ~ From Your Heart

Photography love...
I totally never thought I'd go this personal with a blog post. But I've arrived here tonight and I'm feeling personal. So I'm gonna share. This week's Show and Tell theme is "From the Heart".
Show:

Tell:I did not take this photo but I did edit it. My husband took this photo on Day Two of us being home with the girls (so when the twins were one week old). Breastfeeding didn't go far past this moment ~ but I tried, I did. From my heart the effort spilled out of me (just not out of my milk jugs unfortunately), all for the great love I felt for them. I tried because I loved them and I thought I was doing them some good and because well, isn't that what I was supposed to be doing? I'm not posting this to be an advocate of breastfeeding, I mean, it's great and all ~ but it's totally your choice and I don't judge as long as you're choosing to feed your baby. I'm posting this picture because it makes me think of when I was just beginning to do everything "From the Heart" for these girls. For all my girls.

Show and Tell what's in your heart with The Paper Heart Camera! :)

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ A Story in Pictures

ShutterLoveTuesdays

My beloved Papa died of cancer in January of 2008. These pictures were taken the night before he died. We went to visit with him at the nursing home. He was having a moment with my daughter, J, and I snapped away. I don't know that there is much more of a story to it than a great-grandfather whispering sweet nothings to his tiny little great-granddaughter... wishes for all the happiness in the world & a long and successful life.

the paper mama Photo Challenge ~ Me and Mama!

The Paper Mama

Me & Mama is the theme this week at the paper mama's Photo Challenge. :) I totally did not have time to take pictures this week (boo) so I'm pulling from the archives. It's of me and M (daughter #2). I was showing her how our camera works ~ the screen flips out and turns around so you can film yourself and watch it. She found it fascinating and loves, loves, LOVES to take pictures!

Trendy Treehouse Shutter Love Tuesday ~ Babies

ShutterLoveTuesdays

This week's theme over at the Trendy Treehouse is Babies. I don't know where I'll find a picture of a baby. I don't think I have any of those. Har. Har. Har.
It took me FOREVER to pick a photo. We have thousands upon thousands of pictures of our kids (as I'm sure all the rest of you do, too). And of ALL the pictures I could choose from, I kept going back in my head to one in particular. I couldn't get it out of my mind. When we found out (at the 17 week ultrasound) that we were having twins, the thing we kept saying to each other was "Babies."
So here's my entry this week.... "Babies." I had to take a picture of this picture because (obviously) I did not snap a picture of my womb. I did do a little cropping and editing though and that is noted in my watermark. Babies.
Life is such an miracle. The creation of human life, of a baby, is such a miracle. And I just felt like stating that. :) Share your favorite Miracles (aka Babies) with the rest of us at the Trendy Treehouse! :)

Shoot~N~Tell Thursday - Circular

Shoot:
Tell:
If you look closely, you'll note the very thin vine attached to the very thick pumpkin stump.
During my pregnancy with the girls, we planted pumpkin seeds.
The pumpkins never grew. My husband knew I'd be disappointed.
But alas.
My father-in-law had a brilliant idea!
Starting with a tiny pumpkin, he brought a bigger & bigger pumpkin every few weeks.
Attached the vine to the stump so it appeared to be growing.
See, it was HOT. HOT. HOT. that summer.
And I was very very very pregnant with twins. I never really went outside.
Except for every few weeks, to check on our one growing pumpkin.
This continued on until a month after the girls were born when my friends came to visit.
They noticed right away that the pumpkin hadn't grown in our backyard.
Hi. My name is Meg. I'm a city child. My husband will never let me live this down.

Paper Heart Camera Show & Tell ~ Self Portrait

Photography love...

I actually entered this picture in the paper mama's photo challenge back in August. But I really like it. So I'm using it again! :)

Show:

Tell: So I hadn't told the story behind this picture when I last posted it. It was a Friday night and our good friend was getting married the next day. We had come home from the rehearsal dinner to relieve our babysitter but my husband went out with all the guys once she had left. Now, I'd had my share of champagne at the rehearsal dinner (but I wasn't wasted or anything, don't worry) and decided it was the perfect time to do a series of Hat Pictures. I like hats. I own a lot of them. A whole storage ottoman filled of them, in fact! So why not photograph myself wearing them? So I did. (I am so weird. I know.) (I guess I could have picked from any one of those but then I'd have to hook up the external hard drive, etc etc, and it's late and I'm tuckered out!) I recently got this collage program thing and I've got to figure out how to do it so I can make a collage of the Hat Pictures. I'll post it when I do!

Anyways. This is my self-portrait. I really like it because of the way the green scarf makes my eyes look green, and because well ~ it's totally me. After a few glasses of champagne. Having fun. With eyeliner. By myself. Making eyes at my camera.
